He was the original before Montana and Steve Young. #12 was ever-so-dangerous running the two-minute-drill from behind.<br /><br />As for Bradshaw, he has a lot of detractors but it seems like every coach that he has ever played against always had good things to say about him. Bradshaw was a very good QB, it&#39;s true, but for much of his career, he was arguably not even the best QB to wear number 12. Bob Griese was a better QB from 1970 to 1974, the year the Steelers won their first Super Bowl. It is largely forgotten that Bradshaw wasn&#39;t even the starting QB for the first six games of that season.<br /><br />In 1975, Bradshaw finally put it all together but I&#39;d say Roger Staubach was the better QB from 1975 through 1979 when he retired. I know Bradshaw&#39;s Steelers beat Staubach&#39;s Cowboys in two of their Super Bowls, and I concede that Bradshaw was the key to the Steelers&#39; last two Super Bowl seasons when their defense was no longer dominant and their running game was only good enough.<br /><br />Nevertheless, Griese, Staubach, and even Ken Stabler in several seasons were all better QBs during Bradshaw&#39;s prime. And that&#39;s only a list of the guys wearing the #12. Several other players outperformed him as a QB including Fran Tarkenton, Dan Fouts, and Bert Jones. I know he's no Bradshaw, Brady etc. But come on, he only spent 10 years in the NFL compared to other great QB's (I know these all aren't the #12): Bradshaw-13, Marino-16, Elway-15, etc. and he still managed to put op Hall of Fame stats. Keep in mind if Kelly didn't go to the USFL after the draft and didn't retire early due to his ailing son, who knows what his stats might have been.
