Ostertag wore number 39 for two seasons between 2000 and 2001 with the Jazz (his primary number during his NBA career was 00, which I do not include - yet - in my lists). Ostertag was valued for his physical dominance with his large frame (7' 2" and 280 lbs.), but he could also shoot the rock, with 3,512 career points.
His point scoring couldn't compare to his rebounding efforts however. All told, he pulled down an impressive 4,145 rebounds during his 11 year career spent primarily in Utah. And his rebounding may not have been as strong as his shot blocking. He swatted 1,293 shots, good enough for 44th all-time. He blocked 1.7 shots per game which puts him 31st all-time in that category currently.
Did you know...........that Ostertag played in two NCAA final fours with the Kansas Jayhawks?
