Best NBA athlete to wear number 28 goes to Andrew Lang, who wore the number throughout his 12 season NBA career. Lang, a Razorback in college, was selected with the 28th overall pick in the 1988 draft
by the Phoenix Suns.
Lang would steadily improve over four seasons spent in Arizona, increasing his minutes played, points scored, and rebounds in each of those seasons.
He would subsequently, and famously, be traded by the Suns along with Jeff Hornacek and Tim Perry to Philadelphia for the "Round Mound of Rebound", Charles Barkley.
His stay in Philly would be brief, as he was released after one season. He then signed on to play in Atlanta where he would spend 2 1/2 seasons as a Hawk. Lang would be involved in the Hawks trade for Christian Laettner, when he was sent to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He would then bounce between Milwaukee, Chicago and New York, wearing number 28 for each of those teams.
Lang's strength, in addition to rebounding, was blocking shots. Lang currently ranks 26th on the all-time NBA list for blocked shot percentage (4.6).
Did you know.......that Lang was a 1984 McDonald's All-American?
