Miroslav Satan, the Slovakian left-shooting right-winger, is the best NHL athlete to ever wear the jersey number 81. Taken by the Edmonton Oilers in the 1993 NHL draft, Satan would break into the NHL at age 21 during the 1995-96 season. He would score 35 points (18 goals and 17 assists) during his rookie campaign. He would score 28 more points in 64 games with the Oilers the following season, before being dealt to the Buffalo Sabres, where he would close out the season, scoring 10 points in 12 games.
Miroslav would spend the majority of his NHL career with the Sabres, through the 2003-04 season, never scoring less than 46 points in a regular season with Buffalo.
After the lockout season, Miroslav would sign a free-agent deal with the New York Islanders. He would spend three productive NHL seasons on the Island, racking up seasons of 66, 59 and 41 points. His last two seasons through 2009-10 were split between the Penguins and Bruins.
Over 14 NHL seasons, he accumulated 735 points in 1,050 regular season games.
Did you know.................that Miroslav led the NHL in shooting percentage during the 1996-97 season?
