Many people say that he is the best running back to ever take to an NFL field. Some say he is the best athlete ever. He is certainly the best athlete to ever wear an NFL jersey number 32.
Jim Brown played nine seasons of professional football. All nine seasons he was named an All-Pro and a Pro-Bowler. Taken by the Browns out of Syracuse University with the 6th overall pick in the NFL draft of 1957, Brown (who played for the appropriate team,) would make an immediate impact. He scored nine touchdowns and ran for 942 yards as a rookie.
His sophomore season with the Browns was one of the most prolific in his nine-year career. That year, in 1958, Brown ran for 1,527 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also caught 16 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown that year.
Brown led the NFL in rushing yards in eight of his nine seasons (1962 was the only year he didn't lead the league). He also led the league in rushing touchdowns in five of his nine seasons (1957, 1958, 1959, 1963 and 1965).
He was a three-time NFL MVP (1957, 1958 and 1965.)
For his career, he rushed for 12,312 yards and 126 touchdowns.
Did you know.......Brown is a member of the Lacrosse Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame (class of 1971)?
