Troy Aikman led the Dallas Cowboys to three Super Bowl Championships in a four year span, and in the process became one of the NFL's all-time great quarterbacks. A 2006 Professional Football Hall of Fame inductee, he is also the best NFL athlete to wear the jersey number 8, as well as our pick for the best all-time professional athlete to suit up with a number 8 jersey.
Did you know....Troy is one of four NFL quarterbacks to be selected first overall in the draft and to win the Super Bowl in their first appearance? (The other three are Jim Plunkett, Terry Bradshaw and Peyton Manning.)

ever heard of a man named Steve Young
ReplyDeleteSteve Young? That's the guy Troy Aikman beat alot, right????
ReplyDeleteSteve Young had better receivers and still lost to Aikman and still Aikman has won more superbowls
ReplyDeleteRegular Season Stats Young has the edge in TD's. Postseason Aikman is the boss. 2-1 against Young in Championship games. 3 SB's to Young's 1. Plus Young played in a high % low risk passing game. You may hate the Cowboys but you can't alter the facts
ReplyDeleteFrom a pure athletic stand of point of view there's no denying that Young (remember he started at Tailback for the LA Express) was better than Aikman and "3rdStringFB" said it best. Young played in a high percentage passing offense while Troy Aikman played in an old style power run offense ala Championship teams of yesteryears like the Oakland Raiders of the 70's & 80's, Redskins of the 80's & 90's, Steelers & Dolphins of the 70's, etc...
ReplyDeleteThose teams would ram the ball down your throat then threw the ball deep. My childhood memories of seeing Csonka ramming up the middle then Paul Warfield would grab a long pass. Franco Harris running that trap play over and over then Swann and Stallworth would happened. For the Raiders it was Banaszka, van Eeghan, Davis running behind HOF Shell and Upshaw then Cliff Branch & Dave Casper would grab a long pass.
