The best wide receiver in NFL history. Hands down. Jerry Rice is the best wide receiver ever, and also the best professional athlete to ever wear the jersey number 80. Yes, you may know Mr. Rice from that dancing show, where he moved his feet fairly well. You should know him from moving his feet well on the gridiron. In fact, Jerry danced his way into a sure Pro Football Hall of Fame selection. A unanimous selection without question.
Jerry holds numerous NFL statistical records. A few of the more impressive records are:
- 1st in career touchdowns - 207
- 1st in touchdown receptions - 197
- 1st in career yards gained - 23,546
- 1st in career receptions - 1,549
- 1st in 1,000+ yards receiving seasons - 14
- 1st in 100+ yards receiving games - 76
Jerry is also a thirteen time Pro Bowl selection and was the MVP of Super Bowl XXIII.
Did you know.....Jerry Rice played his college ball at Mississippi Valley State?

The Undisputed best wide receiver in the history of the NFL is Mr. Jerry Rice.
ReplyDeletesteve largent is close
ReplyDeleteno hes not even close....so not close that Largent allowed Jerry to wear his retired #80 when he was with the Seahawks. Jerry Rice is considered not just the greatest receiver but the greatest football player ever.
Deletewhile i do agree that jerry rice does merit some consideration, i think that brandon lloyd has been severely overlooked for this honor. his 2,253 receiving yards over a 6 year period are mind-boggling and the success of his teams (he has played in 6 super bowls) is hard to forget. in the end i think we may all
ReplyDeleteconsider him the best athlete ever.
however, up-and-comer early doucet of arizona almost single handedly led arizona to a super bowl berth this year, and i believe he could be the greatest when it is all said and done.
and finally, lets not forget the amazing exploits of the future legend davale ellis. although he was cut from detroit, it was due to their lack of talent appreciation. al madden has already predicted that he will be the finest receiver of all time.
my prediction: he will finish his career with a sold 10000 receptions for a respectable 80000 yards. he is not a big endzone threat though, so i believe he will probably settle for only around 550 touchdowns.
The best receiver to ever play the game was Don Hutson. Rice is second. There's no "undisputed" to it.
ReplyDeleteYes, Hutson's accomplishments are impressive. A leader at the WR position, and maybe the first great wide receiver. Looking at Jerry Rice's stats and having seen Rice dominate in today's NFL, I have to go with the majority here and say Rice is the all-time greatest wide receiver.
