One of the best linebackers ever, Jack Lambert, is the best professional athlete to ever wear the number 58. If you just say the word linebacker, I'd say that a large amount of people would have this man's name flash in their minds. He was the prototypical linebacker. An integral member of the famed "Steel Curtain" defense, he set the standard for a tough, agressive, competitive football player. He has many credentials for being considered the best athlete to wear the number 58. Here are a few of them:
- 9-time Pro Bowler
- 1974 AP Defensive Rookie of the Year
- 1976 AP Defensive Player of the Year
- Eight-time Defensive Captain of the Steelers
- Four-time Super Bowl Champ
- 1970s All-Decade Team
- 1980s All-Decade Team
- 1990 NFL Hall of Fame Inductee
Did you know........Jack Lambert played at Kent State University?

I SAY BEST, YOU SAY PLAYER: BEST, PLAYER, BEST, PLAYER, BEST, PLAYER, BEST, PLAYER, BEST PLAYER TO EVER TAKE THE FIELD!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGood call. Randy Gradishar of the Denver Broncos was Lambert's equal if not better. He was not a flashy headhunter though and so did not get the ink that Captain jack received. Gradishar had over 2,000 tackles in his career to about 1,400 for Lambert. Why is Randy not in the PFHOF? That is anyone's guess. A travesty.
ReplyDeleteawesome. im # 58 and i wish i was as great as jack.my dad was# 58 as a kid and he loved jack lambert.im a huge steelers fan and now im # 58
ReplyDeleteif he would'nt have died to early Derrick Thomas would be in this spot
ReplyDeleteDerrick Thomas should have definitely been in this spot. Great player, Kansas City needed him not only as a player but a positive influence in the community (KCMO sucks)
ReplyDeleteThe question is how long it takes before we start talking about Von Miller on this one... ;)
ReplyDeleteTobias,
DeleteIt will take over ten years from now. Miller had a great rookie season. Lambert had a great Hall of Fame career. Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves.
