The career New Jersey Devil and top NHL goalie, Martin Brodeur is the pick for the best professional athlete to wear the number 30. With Stanley Cup championships in 1995, 2000 and 2003, Martin is recognized as one of the top, if not the top, goalie in the NHL. (He has also been Canada's starting goalie in recent international play.) Here are some of his creds:
- 1994 Calder Trophy winner
- 2003, 2004 Vezina Trophy winner
- 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004 NHL All-Star
- 3-time Stanley Cup champion (starting in goal)
- 1997, 1998, 2003, 2004 Jennings Trophy winner
Did you know.....Marty's dad, Denis, played in the 1956 Olympics for Canada as goaltender?

Terrell Davis #2 ONLY due to an injury shortened career.
ReplyDeleteHe was the MVP of the 1997 Super Bowl and rushed for a league-best 2,008 yards the next season on his way to becoming league MVP in 1998. Wonder what the future would have held if he wouldn't have been injured?
I really enjoy this blog. Helps me especially on a sports fan networking site called FanNation.com. I hope whoever writes this blog check it out, since you would be a great addition there.
ReplyDeleteSpecifically, I think the best #30 should the Nolan Ryan, but maybe you excluded him because he didn't wear 30 for the majority of his career.
Eddie Giacomin/NY Rangers goalie ?
ReplyDeleteBrodeur deserves to be here for sure.
ReplyDeleteJust as Roy should be at 33.
yes! terrell davis is my favorite running back of all time. but i have to agree with brodeur
ReplyDeleteum, Chris Osgood???
ReplyDeletelove Brodeur, but I'd give it to Davis. No need to debate I completely understand either way
ReplyDeleteTerry Sawchuk > Martin Brodeur by a country mile.
ReplyDeleteWhat about good ol' Timmy Thomas?
ReplyDeleteSince you didn't give it to him at #34, you have to put Nolan Ryan here.
