Unfortunately, the best athlete to wear the number 25 has been in the news lately for all the wrong reasons. This guy has a very real chance of becoming major league baseball's all-time home run champion. However, all we hear about now is how he got so big and strong. By the time this blog entry is done being written, they will probably be hundreds, if not thousands of posts about the subject of steroids, and by tomorrow there will be a new twist in the saga. However.....we're here to talk about the BEST to ever wear the number, and here he is. The son of Bobby Bonds, an outstanding major leaguer in his own time, Barry has become by far the most feared hitter in baseball (this year not withstanding.) His name puts the fannies in the seats, just like the Babe did years ago. Why do people come just to see Barry? Here's an idea why:
- Seven-time NL MVP (1990, '92, '93, 2001, '02, '03 and '04)
- 1st MLB athlete to win four MVPs in a row (2001-2004)
- 2nd all-time in HRs (as of July 14, 2006, with 720)
- 13-time All-Star
- 12 Silver Slugger awards
- 8 Gold Glove awards
- 500/500 club's only member (500 homers / 500 steals)
- All-time leader in walks (2,385 as of July 14, 2006)
- Single-season home run leader with 73 dingers in 2001
'Nuff said.

Must have killed you to have to put this dirtbag in this spot! Oh well, it is "Best by the Numbers" and he is the best to wear 25******. I can add more asterisks if ya want :)
ReplyDeleteTake a good look at his head, you can see moons orbiting it....
glad to see you posted the true great 25 and not some other bleh :)

If he wanted to just be on the "Best to wear that number" list, he could have chosen a number in the 70's and skipped the juice. As it stands, even without the roids, Bonds would belong in the best-ever conversation ... best ever ballplayer, that is -- in basic human decency, he's probably somewhere between John Rocker and Dick Cheney.
ReplyDeletePathetic.... Best at Cheating America's favorite past time!
ReplyDeleteHey, if the Patriots can cheat and win 3 Superbowls, then why can't Barry cheat and be home run king? By the way, has he ever tested positive? Ever?
ReplyDeleteMark McGwire as the token white guy?
ReplyDeleteHmmm... McGwire, Sosa, Palmeiro... all wore 25 at some point in their careers. I guess Bonds would be the best out of the steroid users.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think I remember seeing his dad when he was wearing #25 playing for the Giants.
ReplyDeleteAGAIN, HAS HE EVER, EVER TESTED POSITIVE? WELL....You know some people are headcases. When you catch them cheating, you overlook it, but when you suspect them, you convict! Bleepin FAKERS!
ReplyDeleteREGGIE BUSH
ReplyDeleteGod I hate him
ReplyDeleteHe is a cheater. He was great, but he cheated to be great.
ReplyDeleteNo love for Fred Biletnikoff? Anybody? Bueller? Bueller?
ReplyDeleteI think Mark Texiera is a better ball player and should eventually take over this spot! This coming from an athlete that wears 25 herself!
ReplyDeleteBiletnikoff!
ReplyDeleteHow about Ray Knight when he played for the Cincinnati Reds?
ReplyDeleteyou should have two best #25s....the regular one and best #25*...Bonds gets the * since he cheated.
