At number 3, it's the obvious choice: the Sultan of Swat. His career statistics are amazing:
.342 batting average - 10th all-time
714 home runs - 3rd all-time
2,213 RBIs - 2nd all-time
2,174 runs - 3rd all-time
And here's the kicker:
8,399 at-bats - 92nd all-time
AND.....he was a World Series game-winning pitcher! Wow.

All when beer was the only steriod!
ReplyDeleteWow - after tonights performance - Dwayne Wade may take the #3 spot in NBA all time. Nobody replaces the Bambino but this guy can shoot the rock!
ReplyDeleteHow about the only player to do the number 1 spot justice in the NBA draft.. Allen Iverson. Dwyane Wade can wait but for now AI's accomplishments are just outstanding. Only needs a ring to beat out Ruth
ReplyDeleteNeither Iverson or Wade are anything close to Ruth and they haven't even accomplished anything close to a lot of other number #3 wearers.
ReplyDeleteDon's forget about Dale Earnhardt.
ReplyDeleteoops I meant Don't forget about Dale Earnhardt
ReplyDeleteALLEN IVERSON!!?? Are you F!@#$%g kidding me? This guy who is too good to practice and locked his wife outside naked after a domestic dispute!
ReplyDeleteWhat AI did on the court and what he accomplished out there has nothing to do with the dumb things he's done. He's still an amazing basketball player.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Ruth taking the top spot, but I also have to agree to not forget Dale Earnhardt. He is a legend just as well as the Babe is.
ReplyDeletedirty dale earnhardt? please... not even the same "ballpark".
ReplyDeleteReally what you should do is put a list of the top 10 athletes at each number and just have people vote for the best, over a week or two week period. It would be interesting to see what the people think, because in some cases, it's not just about the numbers. Classic example, Number 33.
